If you could live in any year/decade, which would you choose?

I've been reading this book about time travel, and listening to them exploring different eras made me think about what time I'd like to visit. I think more books should be set further back in time!  They're so fascinating.

I'd definitely choose the 60's in London. The swinging sixties sounds like the best time to travel to! Being a teenager in that decade would probably have been so great! I mean, I don't know much about the 60s but I feel like it would have been a great time, that's when things started changing and becoming a bit more fun right? Like the mods and rockers and The Beatles (I LOVE THE BEATLES). Someone correct me if I'm wrong!!

Being a teenager in this day and age is literally the worst thing ever. Everyone decided to grow up so fast, I mean, I know a lot of people who had  their first kiss when they were like 11-12, and I didn't have mine till I was 16! Maybe I was just an ugly person and no one wanted me, but I think something like that has to be at least semi-special.

I loved when I was a kid and no one really had mobile phones etc, I didn't even have internet until I was around 12/13. Those were the best times, when board games were huge, and playing outside in the street with the neighbours was cool.

So I'd love to go much further back and just enjoy life without the technology boom.

If I'm wrong, please let me know and educate me a little more, also I'd love to here what decade you'd love to go back to!

  1. I think technology is great. Like most things though, if abused, it is not great. What would the 1960s have been like? I don't know, but it seemed a high point for the UK whilst the USA had the civil rights protest, the JFK assassination, and the Vietnam war. Personally, I would have chosen medieval England circa 1150 AD, or the American West in 1880. Board games were great because they encouraged interaction, and playing in the streets as a youngster was something I enjoyed doing. Happy days then...just try and enjoy the days now!

    1. Ah yes! I guess there are good and bad sides for everything, depending on the way you look at it! The 60s in the UK seemed great, I don't know much about America but I think there are a lot of times in the past that would have been interesting to experience living in!

  2. Sure...balance in all things. I think the internet has evolved a lot from when I first used it in university in 1998. But let's flip it another way, if you were to pick a different decade from the 1960s, what would it be, and why?

    1. Definitely! Hm, that's a hard one, but I'd probably go to 1920's, just after the first world war! That date always kind of sticks out to me, I just imagine big fabulous ball gowns and feasts and the women's suffrage & of course Mary Poppins (a little earlier I know). As you can probably tell I don't know much about history, and the only thing I do know in detail are the World Wars, and I definitely wouldn't like to go back to that!

    2. Annie, you're right to give the World Wars a miss. But the fashion in the 1920s was very much the Charleston era, so big ballgowns, from what i can see, were not the 'in' thing... http://www.pinterest.com/search/pins/?q=1920s%20fashion&rs=ac&len=4
Mary Poppins? Awesome film, and womens suffrage....I'm glad the world saw sense...women shouldn't have had to go through that though!
