11 Questions Tag!

Hey guys, so it's been a while since I've done a tag, and I kind of missed it! Here's one that I found on Tumblr.  I'm slightly changing it up a bit, I guess I'm supposed to be answering the new questions written, but I quite like the ones that have already been answered so I'll stick to those! I won't be tagging anyone, but if you want to do it then feel free to say that I've tagged you!!

1. What book would you tell me to read/do you always rec?
The Lunar Chronicles series. Forever and always will I be recommending that series to anyone and everyone. I think it has a little something for all genders and ages.

2. Do you read book adaptions of movies? (ie, the movie came before the book)
I'm generally not aware of which came first. That's bad isn't it? I tend to prefer to read the book before the movie, but if I hear of a movie I'd be interested in, I won't research if it was adapted from a book, I tend to just watch it and when I find out there's a book, I'll read it if I'm interested. E.g. I didn't know the Time Traveller's Wife was a book before I saw the movie, so I saw the movie first and.. have still not read the book. Oops!

3. Do you prefer paperbacks, hardcovers, e-books, or audiobooks?

I prefer e-books, they're a lot easier to read, they're cheaper to buy and I can always have every book with me when I'm travelling in case I don't 'feel' like reading a certain book. However, recently I've found that I haven't been interested in reading on my kindle and have preferred physical books, in which case I'd definitely prefer paperbacks. Again, that's due to the fact they're cheaper than hardcovers, and they're a lot easier to read from, especially if the book is a big one!

4. Do you like watching bookish youtube modern miniseries adaptions? If so, what is your favorite one?
I never have, nor do I know what they are or that they exist and it also doesn't sound like something I'd be interested in. If someone wants to enlighten me on what this question actually means, I'd love to learn!

5. How do you keep track of what page you are on?
Sometimes I find that I can just remember the page number (yeah I'm weird like that) but most of the time I just find a piece of paper, or an old train ticket or something to mark the page.

6. What book are you waiting for patiently/not so patiently to be released?
I was waiting patiently for Winter - Marissa Meyer to be released but that's here now and I'm currently about 250 pages in (and loving it by the way!). Right now, I've had a hard time keeping track with upcoming and new releases so I have no idea.

7. What was the last book you DNF’d? (did not finish/stopped)
Honestly, I can't remember. I took a bit of a break from reading for a while, University always puts me in a reading slump but since I've been more motivated to read I haven't DNF'd anything. I'm sure I will very soon though.

8. What book would you give anything for to be made into a movie?
You know what I'm going to say. Cinder. The Lunar Chronicles. Oh god if that becomes a movie and is done well, with a big budget, I will die. I will be ecstatic.

9. What was the last book you gave a five star rating to?
I'm thinking and thinking, and it might have been the Silver Linings Playbook - Matthew Quick, which I adored. Although I can't remember if it was 4 or 5 stars that I rated it. I'm also too lazy to check. But let's go with it.

10. What book would you give anything to not be made into a movie?
Hmm this is both an easy question and a hard question. Easy because I wouldn't care if they never turned another book into a movie, the movies are generally pretty bad so it wouldn't be much of a loss. But it's also a hard question because if movies are done well, they're pretty great- so I wouldn't want to specify a certain book. Oh I don't know, I'll just go with Wonder - R.J. Palacio. I think the book is perfect as it is, it doesn't need a movie. Although I think one might be in the works? I don't know but I'd rather it wasn't.

11. Are you participating in any bookish challenges this year? If so, which ones?
I'm not. I have a problem, it's a very serious problem, and it's a problem where I can't stick to things. So even if I were 'participating' in challenges, I probably wouldn't have stuck to them past one day anyway. I'm terrible.

I really enjoyed these questions, they were great fun to do! I hope you liked my responses. Why not answer one of these questions for yourself in the comments below, I'd love to hear your thoughts!

  1. Hey there! I just came across your blog and saw this post and the following question "4. Do you like watching bookish youtube modern miniseries adaptions? If so, what is your favorite one?" and I thought I'd explain. In the past couple of years there have been a lot of classical books adapted into our modern day lives in a pretty awesome way in which the main character is vlogging her/his story. So tese are basically like tv shows, but instead of being played on tv, they're being uploaded onto youtube. One episode is also shorter than a 20 or 40 minutes long episode, so you can watch them pretty quickly. I know that at first this sounds a bit weird, but they're actually quite amazing.
If you're interesting in checking one of these out, I'd recommend you watching The Lizzie Bennet Diaries, which is was the very first adaptation made like this and I think it was the best as well. It's a Pride and Prejudice retelling. You can find it here: https://www.youtube.com/user/LizzieBennet
